Kandesn's Glamorous Appeal

I recently said pictures were 'coming soon' from the glamorous fashion event that Kandesn® Marketing Manager Julie McLewee participated in, so here are a few of the beautiful shots (above)!

If you remember (read here if you need a refresher), the fashion show was for a local Minneapolis, Minnesota, designer, Hazel Matthys (hazelmatthys.com), and everyone involved lauded the Kandesn
® Cosmetics. Hazel loved the way it looked on the models and the way it complemented her clothing designs. The models adored the makeup because it felt great on their skin, the makeup artists loved it because it didn't require any touch-ups, and the photographer raved because it looked so natural in photographs. Talk about praise worthy!

Drum Roll, Please…

September’s Employee of the Month award goes to...Kevin Hsiung!

Kevin’s known around the office for many things: his entertaining sense of humor, good attitude, and hard work, among others. After joining Sunrider nine years ago, Kevin has steadily climbed the IT department ranks, moving up from his first position as a Programmer/Analyst to his current Systems Administrator II position.

Kevin has recently devoted much of his time to working with our infrastructure team to resolve networking and server operation issues. It’s a complex and time consuming project that Kevin sees as fun and rewarding. Kevin helped set up the network, performed settings tests with our many global IT affiliates, and worked around the clock to ensure they could connect to the server.

At Sunrider World Headquarters, Kevin is a welcome sight where ever he goes! What an achievement, Kevin, keep up the good work!

I asked Kevin the usual questions, so we can all get to know him a little bit better.

Q1: What is the best thing about being an SR employee?
Working with the friendliest, smartest, most capable, most thoughtful, happiest people everyday is the best thing about being a SR employee. We are such a big family. It doesn’t matter what your title is, everybody respects each other like brothers and sisters. Of course, the annual Grand Convention and Holiday Party are also great things about being an SR employee.

Q2: What’s your best memory of SR?
Although we are super busy before, and during, Grand Convention, my heart is always happy after the mission is completed. Not only can I visit with IBOs and ABOs from all over the world, but the entire staff works together as a team to achieve the same goal—making convention smooth and successful.

The annual Holiday Party is also an unforgettable experience for me. Bringing the most boring department into the funniest performance at the Holiday Party is the most challenging job in our department. But, we have not disappointed anyone yet! We also get to see different sides of everyone’s personality in the performance.

Q3: What do you like most about your job?
Oh…I hate my job—ha ha, just kidding :)!! A career in technology doesn’t allow you to dwell in the moment, because new technologies come out every day, and we have to keep learning, learning, and learning. Sometimes I get tired, but I can’t stop. I still need to go forward. People say, “No pain, no gain.” That’s my philosophy, too. Therefore, constantly learning new technology knowledge is the most challenging part about my job, but it’s also the most delightful!
Q4: What’s your favorite color?
I love all the colors, because my life is colorful.

Q5: Do you have any pets?
I have three little daughters, and they are my pets. <^ o ^>

Taking Initiatives toward Success

Sunrider seized the opportunity to participate in the third annual Inland Empire’s Largest Mixer in Ontario, the heart of Southern California’s Inland Empire, some 54 miles east of Sunrider’s World Headquarters. A mash-up of social mixer mingling and business expo networking, the October 22 event was a night of professional discourse and business outreach.

Held at the Ontario Convention Center, business people representing chambers and business organizations and hundreds of companies and industries came to forge new relationships at “the ultimate business networking event.”
As representatives from other businesses continued to visit the Sunrider table, IBOs had their hands full in presenting the Sunrider opportunity Anthony Le Noir, operations coordinator at Sunrider’s World Headquarters, said, “In fact, there were so many people interested in the Sunrider® products that the Sunrider table was one of the last companies participating to break down their booth!”

Last year, some
2,000 business people attended the mixer, and it seemed like even more this year! Kandesn® Marketing Manager Julie McLewee transformed women into Kandesn® beauties and local IBOs shared success stories and product information. Julie said, “The people were very open to Sunrider, and our IBOs got a lot of great leads. Our table was so busy!”

IBO Mary Young said, “It was such an energetic mixer. The quality of people willing to spend time at our table was outstanding. Lots of questions were asked about the skin care, and we were sure to tell them about our Torrance headquarters where they could receive even more one-on-one time. The SunBreeze® Oil also garnered lots of interest—I had an email first thing this morning inquiring about it! We overheard one attendee comment that our table was so ‘energetic’ and ‘alive’! The mixer was definitely a success! I got 36 new leads!”

Featuring some 200 exhibitors, including Sunrider, this year’s mixer was a tremendous chance to reach potential new clients, and expand our connections and relationships. Sunrider often participates in business mixer, helping local IBOs sponsor and build their businesses through exciting, and ultimately successful, networking events. Earlier this year, Sunrider attended Orange County’s Largest Mixer, another event in the Largest Mixer networking series.

Three Years Running, Sunrider Sponsors AIDS Walk Los Angeles

AIDS Walk Los Angeles is an annual event which supports AIDS Project Los Angeles and other AIDS service organizations across Los Angeles County, and is one of the largest AIDS fundraising events in the country. This year, which marked the event’s 25th anniversary, raised $3,146,206 in funds to fight AIDS, and some 30,000 people walked the 6.2-mile route to bring further awareness to the disease.

For the third consecutive year, Sunrider International was a proud sponsor of the 10k walkathon, held this year on October 18 in West Hollywood, California. Oi-Lin® Sunmilk sunscreen products were also donated for event participants. Twenty Five IBOs and their families formed a Sunrider team and participated as well.
Christina Sjoblom, an Assistant Business Leader from West Hills who completed the walk with her upline, Debbie Clydesdale, a Business Leader from Redondo Beach, said, “At the beginning of the walk, I was like ‘oh my gosh, how am I going to complete this?,’ but I just kept drinking my Fortune Delight®, and it just got easier. The participants were very diverse, and the walk was just a ton of fun! I am so proud of myself!” Christina was just one of many Sunriders who completed the walkathon!

Thanks to all who came out and showed their support!

Kandesn® Workshops Hit Minnesota…and the Catwalk!

On Wednesday, October 7, Kandesn® Marketing Manager, Julie McLewee landed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to begin three days of non-stop Kandesn® promotion. Her first stop was a Kandesn® Product Fair and Workshop in Minneapolis, where over 50 guests were “wowed” by our products and demonstrations. Sunriders and their guests were energized and inspired by Julie’s clear understanding of the skin, as well as her color and application tips. The women’s skin care routine was demonstrated while attendees performed “back of the hand” facials. The men’s skin care routine was presented next, as well as cosmetics. Following the interactive meeting, makeovers were given to a large number of women, including guests and long-time Sunriders.

On Thursday, Julie touted Kandesn® cosmetic tips to makeup artists and models at a fashion show for local designer, Hazel Matthys’, spring clothing line. By the end of the photo shoot, models and makeup artists craved more information about the Kandesn® line. The models were amazed the Kandesn® makeup, applied in the morning, lasted all day, and they also loved how it felt on their faces. The makeup artists raved about the products, too. Deb Regan said, “Julie came in the morning to discuss Kandesn® application tips, and by the afternoon, models were practically yelling ‘tell me more!’ and the makeup artists really enjoyed working with the Kandesn® line… seeing the Kandesn® cosmetics used in such a glamorous setting took me to another level of promotion possibilities for the skin care and cosmetics side of my business.”

The photographer was most impressed with the Kandesn® Protective Foundation, because most foundations look unnatural in digital photography, but the Kandesn® cosmetics showed up beautifully in the photos and highlighted the models’ natural beauty (pictures coming soon).

On Friday, Julie was off to another Workshop luncheon, where she provided training for Kat Mac Neil and Sandy Besseman’s group. The intimate training session provided tips about holding your own Kandesn® Workshop, makeover ideas, holiday gift ideas, methods of presentation, and product and company information. Kat Mac Neil said all their questions were answered, and they learned the latest happenings in the industry. She added that, “It gave all of us a feeling of pride and confidence to know that Sunrider is ‘Simply the Best™’! Sometimes people can be a little intimidated by the cosmetics, but Julie’s relaxed attitude and easy going nature made the educational session FUN…we all saw their excitement blossom right before our eyes! My new VIP hasn’t come down from the clouds yet. She is so excited about Kandesn® that she has all her lady relatives coming to our event on the 24th!

Three workshops, one glamorous fashion show, and three days of confidence-boosting Kandesn inspiration later, Julie McLewee left Minnesota Sunriders with the tools to build and expand Sunrider’s Kandesn® brand. Confidence and enthusiasm has been renewed, and Minnesota Sunriders look forward to teaching others about Sunrider’s exemplary cosmetic and skin care lines.

Sunrider Supports AMCHAM Event

Sunrider Korea was a proud sponsor of the 2009 AMCHAM (American Chamber of Commerce) Picnic, held September 19 at Misari Public Park in Gyeonggi-do, Korea. In support of the event as a “Good Will Sponsor,” Sunrider Korea donated 1,300 tubes of Kandesn® Hand Cleansing Gel. This donation was in response to AMCHAM’s request for hand sanitizers, which are in particular demand, as Korea is in midst of an H1N1 flu epidemic.

Translated Article Featuring John Teng at Sunrider Canada's 25th Anniversary Celebration

Title: Sunrider Canada Celebrates its 25th Anniversary
Source: Sing Tao, reported by Albert Tsui
Date: 09-27-2009

Sunrider International, a company founded in the United States 27 years ago, hosted a party at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel on Saturday, September 26, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Sunrider Canada office. Nearly 200 people attended the party.

John Teng, North America sales manager, was the keynote speaker at the party; he is the son-in-law of Sunrider’s founder Dr. Tei-Fu Chen. John’s ancestry is half Chinese and half German and Irish. He has learned to speak Mandarin, and he gave a summary on the philosophical concepts behind Sunrider® products. He talked about concepts such as Yin and Yang and their influence on the body. He also explained how the “Five Elements” of the body need to be in balance to achieve optimal health. John related how taking only supplements like protein powder to improve energy is not enough; this can’t compare to consuming real food-based products that are diverse, specially formulated, and manufactured under exacting standards of quality.

Sunrider has manufacturing facilities in the United States. And after 25 years of expansion in Asia, Sunrider will continue its efforts to build upon its success in Canada by using British Columbia, Canada as a bridge for its expansion into eastern Canada. John also mentioned, that in the future, a direct selling model could be implemented alongside a business model based on Authorized Business Owners, to increase brand recognition and sales. He added that in today’s global economy, good news from the Asian markets will strengthen the development of the North American market.

Sunrider Participates in Annual Quinceañera Event

Sunrider once again took part in the annual Quinceañera event held in Santa Ana, California, on Sunday, October 3. A Quinceañera is a special celebration in the Latino community marking a girl’s 15th birthday.

The event drew close to 2,000 attendees, and hundreds stopped by Sunrider’s booth where they
were greeted by Sunrider leaders Juan Flores and Evangelina Ruiz. Juan and Evangelina were on hand to share their success stories and hold product demonstrations. These demonstrations included Sunbreeze® Oil, SunSmile® Fruit & Vegetable Rinse, Fortune Delight®, Oi-Lin® Skin Care Set, and the ever-popular Kandesn® Color Compact Cases.

While Sunrider leaders spoke to parents about Sunrider’s financial opportunity, the soon-to-be-Quinceañeras were encouraged to try the Oi-Lin® Skin Care and Kandesn® Color Cosmetic products. Everyone learned about the benefits of Sunrider® products, and they were informed of the extensive research and development and self-manufacturing that make our products unique. Product Demonstration Cards as well as Simply the Best™ brochures were given as handouts, and contact information was exchanged among the guests and our leaders.

Many left convinced of the Sunrider opportunity, and they urged our leaders to follow-up with them to provide even more information. It was great fun and a very promising day!

Exciting News from the Kandesn® Room

Hi everyone, this is Julie McLewee, your Kandesn® Marketing Manager. I want to share some highlights from an exciting event I recently attended—The International Congress of Esthetics and Spa. This is a world recognized skin care and spa convention for industry specialists.

The convention hosts dozens of workshops featuring the latest and greatest in every aspect of skin care and body care products. They cover ingredients, technologies, and skin benefits!
Now, what was so exciting was the fact that many doctors were explaining that peptides are the latest craze, and companies are now starting to group the peptides in beneficial combinations. I continued listening, and to my amazement and delight, many of the cutting-edge ingredients they discussed are already in a great many of our products. I had taken my Oi-Lin® Eye Cream ingredient list to do my due diligence.

I am ecstatic and proud to say that the Oi-Lin® Eye Cream and Dr. Chen® Refining & Lifting Cream can stand on the podium as some of the best products on the international market today. They contain an array of peptides, hyaluronic acid, and herbal botanicals. These creams prevent oxidative attack and inflammation, and can help your skin produce more collagen and elasticity, giving you brighter, smoother looking skin.

The Oi-Lin® Eye Cream can hydrate, smooth, and tighten, and reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles around the eyes. It contains several types of peptides that have specific functions. The DI-Peptide, for example, helps improve the drainage of fluid under the eye. After using this product, many people say they notice immediate benefits, and it really helps with dark circles and puffiness!

On that note, I want my Sunrider family to get as excited as I am! We have the best anti-aging products available today! Dr. Chen’s expertise is so far ahead of any other company, and with a manufacturing plant as state-of-the-art as ours, we are producing superior products. Kandesn® is bridging the gap between wellness and beauty.

People need what we offer—safe, healthy beauty with definite benefits! Let’s start sharing today!
Warmest regards,

Julie McLewee
Kandesn® Marketing Manager
