Sunrider Food (Kunshan) Ltd. Opening Ceremony and Celebration

On November 4, 2009, nearly 800 people from every province in China and over 70 ABOs from Taiwan, Malaysia, and Korea joined in a celebration to mark the grand opening of Sunrider’s third state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Kunshan, China. On a cool autumn day, Drs. Chen and VIPs took to the stage accompanied by loud applause for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Together with a spirited and thrilling lion dance performance, the ceremony heralded the opening of the huge and impressive Kunshan Manufacturing Facility, which covers an area of approximately 206 acres, with a built-up area of 40,000 square meters.

Dr. Chen thanked the Municipal Committee of Kunshan City and government leaders of Dianshan for their unwavering support that resulted in the completion of Sunrider’s Kunshan Plant project in just two years. He also extended his thanks to all Sunrider leaders for their support and assistance.

Sunrider Food (Kunshan) Ltd. has production lines in place for Sunrider’s highly touted instant noodles and a variety of canned foods. With a staggering investment of over US$80 million, Dr. Chen shared that the plant is also designed for the research and development of beverages and various supplements, in addition to the noodles and canned foods. The plant is equipped with ultramodern equipment and incorporates precise manufacturing procedures to ensure the quality, safety, and effectiveness of all Sunrider® products.

ABOs were later taken on a tour of the noodle production line. Each visitor was given noodle samples to taste, and it was the thumbs up all around! An array of healthy yet delicious condiments such as egg, mushroom, and tofu accompanied the noodles, prompting one ABO to say, “It’s a most healthy ‘fast food’ for busy entrepreneurs!”

The banquet attended by the ABOs later that evening was a memorable and entertaining affair. Besides the mouthwatering food served, attendees enjoyed spectacular performances by Chinese Business Leaders. Drs. Chen were later seen singing karaoke with the VIPs, showing Sunriders how important it is to work hard and play hard!

Kandesn's Glamorous Appeal

I recently said pictures were 'coming soon' from the glamorous fashion event that Kandesn® Marketing Manager Julie McLewee participated in, so here are a few of the beautiful shots (above)!

If you remember (read here if you need a refresher), the fashion show was for a local Minneapolis, Minnesota, designer, Hazel Matthys (hazelmatthys.com), and everyone involved lauded the Kandesn
® Cosmetics. Hazel loved the way it looked on the models and the way it complemented her clothing designs. The models adored the makeup because it felt great on their skin, the makeup artists loved it because it didn't require any touch-ups, and the photographer raved because it looked so natural in photographs. Talk about praise worthy!

Drum Roll, Please…

September’s Employee of the Month award goes to...Kevin Hsiung!

Kevin’s known around the office for many things: his entertaining sense of humor, good attitude, and hard work, among others. After joining Sunrider nine years ago, Kevin has steadily climbed the IT department ranks, moving up from his first position as a Programmer/Analyst to his current Systems Administrator II position.

Kevin has recently devoted much of his time to working with our infrastructure team to resolve networking and server operation issues. It’s a complex and time consuming project that Kevin sees as fun and rewarding. Kevin helped set up the network, performed settings tests with our many global IT affiliates, and worked around the clock to ensure they could connect to the server.

At Sunrider World Headquarters, Kevin is a welcome sight where ever he goes! What an achievement, Kevin, keep up the good work!

I asked Kevin the usual questions, so we can all get to know him a little bit better.

Q1: What is the best thing about being an SR employee?
Working with the friendliest, smartest, most capable, most thoughtful, happiest people everyday is the best thing about being a SR employee. We are such a big family. It doesn’t matter what your title is, everybody respects each other like brothers and sisters. Of course, the annual Grand Convention and Holiday Party are also great things about being an SR employee.

Q2: What’s your best memory of SR?
Although we are super busy before, and during, Grand Convention, my heart is always happy after the mission is completed. Not only can I visit with IBOs and ABOs from all over the world, but the entire staff works together as a team to achieve the same goal—making convention smooth and successful.

The annual Holiday Party is also an unforgettable experience for me. Bringing the most boring department into the funniest performance at the Holiday Party is the most challenging job in our department. But, we have not disappointed anyone yet! We also get to see different sides of everyone’s personality in the performance.

Q3: What do you like most about your job?
Oh…I hate my job—ha ha, just kidding :)!! A career in technology doesn’t allow you to dwell in the moment, because new technologies come out every day, and we have to keep learning, learning, and learning. Sometimes I get tired, but I can’t stop. I still need to go forward. People say, “No pain, no gain.” That’s my philosophy, too. Therefore, constantly learning new technology knowledge is the most challenging part about my job, but it’s also the most delightful!
Q4: What’s your favorite color?
I love all the colors, because my life is colorful.

Q5: Do you have any pets?
I have three little daughters, and they are my pets. <^ o ^>

Taking Initiatives toward Success

Sunrider seized the opportunity to participate in the third annual Inland Empire’s Largest Mixer in Ontario, the heart of Southern California’s Inland Empire, some 54 miles east of Sunrider’s World Headquarters. A mash-up of social mixer mingling and business expo networking, the October 22 event was a night of professional discourse and business outreach.

Held at the Ontario Convention Center, business people representing chambers and business organizations and hundreds of companies and industries came to forge new relationships at “the ultimate business networking event.”
As representatives from other businesses continued to visit the Sunrider table, IBOs had their hands full in presenting the Sunrider opportunity Anthony Le Noir, operations coordinator at Sunrider’s World Headquarters, said, “In fact, there were so many people interested in the Sunrider® products that the Sunrider table was one of the last companies participating to break down their booth!”

Last year, some
2,000 business people attended the mixer, and it seemed like even more this year! Kandesn® Marketing Manager Julie McLewee transformed women into Kandesn® beauties and local IBOs shared success stories and product information. Julie said, “The people were very open to Sunrider, and our IBOs got a lot of great leads. Our table was so busy!”

IBO Mary Young said, “It was such an energetic mixer. The quality of people willing to spend time at our table was outstanding. Lots of questions were asked about the skin care, and we were sure to tell them about our Torrance headquarters where they could receive even more one-on-one time. The SunBreeze® Oil also garnered lots of interest—I had an email first thing this morning inquiring about it! We overheard one attendee comment that our table was so ‘energetic’ and ‘alive’! The mixer was definitely a success! I got 36 new leads!”

Featuring some 200 exhibitors, including Sunrider, this year’s mixer was a tremendous chance to reach potential new clients, and expand our connections and relationships. Sunrider often participates in business mixer, helping local IBOs sponsor and build their businesses through exciting, and ultimately successful, networking events. Earlier this year, Sunrider attended Orange County’s Largest Mixer, another event in the Largest Mixer networking series.
