Lauds for Larry, Sunrider’s August Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Larry Burr, our August Employee of the Month. Larry has been with Sunrider nearly 21 years and was initially hired as a customer service rep in our Order Department. He has progressed steadily throughout the years in our customer service areas, and currently holds the position of Business Services Rep IV.

His typical daily duties consist of responding to customer emails, answering phone calls, and processing returns, in addition to a multitude of other various tasks. Larry is a key member of the department and takes his responsibilities very seriously. He works tirelessly to maintain department service levels, while keeping a high degree of customer service.

When department staffing was recently reduced, Larry was asked to take on new duties and additional responsibilities. He didn’t hesitate to agree with a smile and positive attitude. When the phones aren’t ringing and the emails have all been answered, Larry can be found combing the Sunrider website to ensure he has the most recent information to share with our customers.

In addition, Larry is always willing to assist his co-workers whenever the need arises and without being asked. Larry’s team spirit, strong work ethic, and attention to detail make him an extremely valuable member of our Business Services Department.

His unwavering commitment and positive attitude make him an outstanding employee and a worthy recipient of Sunrider’s Employee of the Month award.

Congratulations, Larry!

Sunrider International Hosts “Tribute to First Responders Luncheon”

On Thursday, September 16, the Harbor City/Harbor Gateway Chamber of Commerce held the Tribute to the First Responders Luncheon at Sunrider International in Torrance, CA.

Some 150 policemen and women, firefighters, paramedics, and more from local police, fire, sheriff, and transportation departments, crises response teams, and other organizations attended in recognition of those who arrive first on the scene of emergencies.

Special guests included Los Angeles County Sheriff, Lee Baca; Steve Napolitano, from the Los Angeles County Supervisor’s office; and Chief Charlie Beck of the Los Angeles Police Department, among others.

As a sponsor and host of the event, Mrs. Chen attended the luncheon and honored guests with a gift bag from Sunrider. John Teng, North American Sales Manager, welcomed the guests on behalf of Sunrider and thanked the first responders for providing the local community with safety and peace of mind. Guests also toured the Chen Art Gallery, which houses the largest private collection of Chinese artifacts in Southern California.

It was a terrific way to recognize those who provide crucial, often life-saving, services in times of crisis. From all of us at Sunrider International, thanks to all the “first responders”—we greatly appreciate everything you do!

Sunrider Shines at the L.A. County Fair

Sunrider International entered the fall season by creating excitement and buzz at the L.A. County Fair, held at the Fairplex in Pomona, California, on Saturday, September 18. This event was a great opportunity to increase Sunrider brand awareness, and the Sunrider team did not disappoint!

With a colorful, active booth, we attracted a lot of visitors all day and into the night. People had the opportunity to sample Fortune Delight® and SunBar®, both the fruit and chocolate flavors, which were a great hit with everyone, especially the kids!

Other popular products included SunSmile® Fruit & Vegetable Rinse (which our staff did an outstanding job of promoting, as we sold all the products we brought to the fair!) and SunBreeze® Oil, which visitors enjoyed while experiencing a mini massage. Visitors all declared that they felt more relaxed and calmer after the “hands-on” treatment.

Kandesn® Skin Care and Color Cosmetics are always a big attraction and this event was no exception. Ladies enjoyed relaxing with an Oi-Lin® mini facial and a Kandesn® Color “mini makeover.” We helped them match their colors and made quite a few sales. A number of the teenage girls and young ladies were very excited when we demonstrated the difference with Kandesn® foundation. They remarked how it allows the skin to breathe, as opposed to the regular store-bought foundations that suffocate the skin with animal proteins and mineral oils. This demonstration really showcased how we can help every woman to achieve clear and more beautiful, youthful-looking skin. Many ladies were even interested in coming to our Kandesn® Room, located at Sunrider World Headquarters, for a full Kandesn® workshop experience!

It was a brilliant event to engage in one-on-one conversations and to share both the uniqueness of our products and the Philosophy of Regeneration®.  It also gave us an opportunity to hand out literature about the products and our business opportunity that people could review after returning home!

All in all, the L.A. County Fair was a superb venue for Sunrider International. It was a family event and we had something to offer everyone in the family. It gave us a way to continue to make more inroads into the Hispanic community and the Los Angeles market in general.

Here’s to Hilda, Sunrider’s July Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Hilda Salazar, our July Employee of the Month, who has been a loyal and dedicated Sunrider warehouse employee for nearly 21 years. In that time, Hilda has progressed through the ranks with positions of increasing responsibility. She first started as a general warehouse worker, was promoted several times, and now holds position of warehouse supervisor! Besides day-to-day warehouse management, Hilda is also a key member on our safety committee, helping to identify safety hazards and recommending improvements within the warehouse.

Hilda takes her responsibilities very seriously, continually seeking ways to reduce picking errors and improve productivity. During last month’s Sunrider ABO Convention, Hilda juggled the usual daily U.S. order fulfillment, yet still effectively organized the picking and packing of the many, many convention orders. She meticulously managed her team to ensure all responsibilities were completed on time and error free.

Hilda’s organizational skills, strong work ethic, and attention to detail make her a valuable team member, and an excellent Sunrider employee. Her cheerful demeanor, unflagging energy, and positive attitude make her an employee we’re happy to have.

Here’s what Hilda had to say about her time at Sunrider:

Q1: What is the best thing about being a SR employee?
The opportunity to grow with the company.

Q2: What’s your best memory of SR?
When we first moved to the new building in Torrance, we had a convention where distributors from around the world came to see the installations and I had the opportunity and pleasure to talk in person to customers that I just knew by phone. It was a very nice experience.

Q3: What do you like most about your job?
Meeting very interesting people every day is one of the things that make me like my job.

Q4: What’s your favorite color?
My favorite color is blue because it’s the color of the sea and it brings me nice memories of my young life with my family.

Q5: Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a Rottweiler mix—his name is Katan. He is really happy to see me when I get back at home after work. This dog is very loyal to me and likes to follow me around the house keeping an eye on me.

Congratulations, Hilda!

Sunrider Recognized as Outstanding Franchise Business in Korea

Sunrider was selected as a winner in the “distribution sector” by a recent study conducted by three prominent news publications. The study served to determine the most outstanding franchise business opportunities in Korea, a country that currently has about 2,400 franchise companies and about 257,000 stores operating in the franchise market.

The study, entitled the “Korean Franchise Competitiveness Research,” was initiated to help remedy the dearth of objective and practical information available to prospective franchise business owners who often are confused about what type of business to start. The study’s findings aim to provide meaningful information that can be used to evaluate the plethora of franchise opportunities.

The study was conducted April–July 2010 by the Korea Economic Daily, JoongAng, and the Korean Customers’ Forum, and involved the 2,078 companies/brands registered by the Fair Trade Commission. A complete survey and extensive research were carried out to measure franchise owner satisfaction and evaluate areas integral to the successful running of a franchise business. These areas included support services, management, training, product and service quality, dispute resolution, research and development, trustworthiness of head office, social responsibility, profitability, growth potential, and perception of brand image abroad.

The results of the survey along with data from the research were then evaluated by a committee of industry experts, and the top companies in six different sectors were determined (18 winners in total). Sunrider was selected a winner in the “distribution sector.”

Recognition of Sunrider as a company offering an exceptional franchise opportunity is further testimony to its commitment to achieve excellence in everything it does. Sunrider Korea looks forward to continued success and expansion with its franchise business operations in the years to come.

Happy Labor Day from Sunrider

What does Labor Day commemorate exactly? According to the U.S. Department of Labor, “Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country."

Today, many Americans celebrate the holiday with a much-welcomed reprieve from work. We often spend this time with friends and family, enjoying leisurely activities such as barbeques, beach trips, and backyard shindigs.

Here are a few suggestions to incorporate Sunrider into your Labor Day festivities. Whatever you do, be sure to enjoy it.

Dia de la Mujer Latina “Health Fiesta” Boasts Great Turnout

Last weekend, Sunrider participated in the Dia de la Mujer Latina (DML) event, a culturally specific “Health Fiesta” that wheeled spectators through the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown L.A. The event drew a great crowd even though the Emmy’s were taking place nearby on the same day.

The Dia de la Mujer Latina expo addressed disparities in health care access among Latina women in Los Angeles. The event provided health care screenings and related information on active living strategies in an effort to provide access, resources, and support to pursue healthy living approaches.

Sunrider® product demonstrations showed our products effectiveness, and brochures, product cards, and sample bags were given to those that provided their information to attend a product fair or visit corporate headquarters.

Events like these are ideal avenues for IBOs to find leads and build a robust organization. Check your local community’s event calendar and see what you can attend to cultivate your Sunrider business.
