Sunrider International Hosts “Tribute to First Responders Luncheon”

On Thursday, September 16, the Harbor City/Harbor Gateway Chamber of Commerce held the Tribute to the First Responders Luncheon at Sunrider International in Torrance, CA.

Some 150 policemen and women, firefighters, paramedics, and more from local police, fire, sheriff, and transportation departments, crises response teams, and other organizations attended in recognition of those who arrive first on the scene of emergencies.

Special guests included Los Angeles County Sheriff, Lee Baca; Steve Napolitano, from the Los Angeles County Supervisor’s office; and Chief Charlie Beck of the Los Angeles Police Department, among others.

As a sponsor and host of the event, Mrs. Chen attended the luncheon and honored guests with a gift bag from Sunrider. John Teng, North American Sales Manager, welcomed the guests on behalf of Sunrider and thanked the first responders for providing the local community with safety and peace of mind. Guests also toured the Chen Art Gallery, which houses the largest private collection of Chinese artifacts in Southern California.

It was a terrific way to recognize those who provide crucial, often life-saving, services in times of crisis. From all of us at Sunrider International, thanks to all the “first responders”—we greatly appreciate everything you do!

Dia de la Mujer Latina “Health Fiesta” Boasts Great Turnout

Last weekend, Sunrider participated in the Dia de la Mujer Latina (DML) event, a culturally specific “Health Fiesta” that wheeled spectators through the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown L.A. The event drew a great crowd even though the Emmy’s were taking place nearby on the same day.

The Dia de la Mujer Latina expo addressed disparities in health care access among Latina women in Los Angeles. The event provided health care screenings and related information on active living strategies in an effort to provide access, resources, and support to pursue healthy living approaches.

Sunrider® product demonstrations showed our products effectiveness, and brochures, product cards, and sample bags were given to those that provided their information to attend a product fair or visit corporate headquarters.

Events like these are ideal avenues for IBOs to find leads and build a robust organization. Check your local community’s event calendar and see what you can attend to cultivate your Sunrider business.

Heightening Sunrider Exposure: Local Event Creates Awareness

Dubbed an “amazing, life-changing event” by organizers, Sunrider International attended the Women’s Information Network (WIN) International Convention “Be the Change” in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 17, at the Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel.

Presented by WIN, a community of women helping women, the event brought ladies together from all over to enrich their personal and professional lives, and Sunrider was on-hand to share its products and business opportunity with the many who attended.

Various media experts, word-class presenters, and best-selling authors were also there to offer invaluable information, advice, and inspiration to women trying to achieve their goals and “reinvigorate their life.”

Amy Cheryl, a Business Leader from Los Angeles, said:

“I made some great contacts and a couple that are interested in becoming business builders, so that is huge! I find that events like these are so important to have a presence at as it offers an audience to share Sunrider International with. I find that most of these events are not about making immediate sales; it is more about making contacts, networking, making relationships, sharing the Sunrider philosophy and their amazing products, and then the key is in the follow up. I always make sure to get their contact info, and to give them a catalog/brochure. I, personally, also utilize these events to walk around to the other vendors who may not get a chance to come over to the Sunrider booth. I carry the brochures with me wherever I go (even in the ladies room!), and then share with the ladies to stop by the Sunrider booth.”

Just like the women who attended this event to expand their circle, you can too at local events in your area. It’s as simple getting out there and networking!

Sunrider Supports the Gang Alternatives Program

The Gang Alternatives Program (GAP) held its 8th annual awards dinner and fundraiser event, “An Elegant Evening on the Coast,” on March 27, 2010, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Pedro, California. This year, Sunrider was once again a financial supporter of the event, and has supported this invaluable community program for the last several years. In fact, just two years ago, Sunrider hosted this annual event at our headquarters in Torrance.

GAP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides services and programs to promote a gang-free lifestyle throughout many communities in and around Los Angeles. According to their website, GAP’s mission is “to eliminate the base of gang membership by having a generation of young people say ‘no’ to gangs and ‘yes’ to positive lifestyle choices.”

Thanks to this inspiring and effective program, countless youth avoid the pitfalls of gang membership and are able to achieve success in life.

Sunrider Shines at Orange County’s Largest Mixer VII

On March 23, Sunrider International participated in Orange County’s Largest Mixer VII with hundreds of businesses attending from around Orange County and beyond.

Sunrider, once again, had one of the busiest tables, generating lots of energy and attention. In order to introduce attendees to the Philosophy of Regeneration™, a diverse selection of products such as Fortune Delight®, SunBreeze® Oil, and Kandesn® Skin Care and Color Cosmetics were showcased. This helped them understand beauty from the inside out and the outside in. We had a perfect location close to the entrance and right next to a beautiful jewelry table. The ladies liked that they could match Kandesn® Lip Colors to their new baubles!

The dynamic group of IBOs who participated was enthused to share the uniqueness of Sunrider’s business opportunity. Jessica Jansen, one of the attending IBOs, said the event was really productive and that everyone she approached responded well to Sunrider. Her “hit product” was Fortune Delight®, and she said people lit up when they tried it. Then they really wanted to hear more about the benefits and ingredients. Jessica was surprised by their desire for more detailed information. Stephanie Gylden enjoyed interacting with the people and felt it was one of the most exciting events she had ever attended.

Another long-time IBO who came was Dafna Topper, and she really enjoyed the high energy of the event. Everyone who came to our area was very open to the products, and she had most success at engaging people with the Oi-Lin® Skin Care Set. Dafna made about 26 contacts, many of whom were interested in learning more about the business opportunity, so we can look forward to watching the Sunrider family grow more in the weeks to come!

IBOs Tim and Mary Young also attended, meeting numerous people who were with Sunrider years ago and had really enjoyed the products. These folks were ecstatic about the new pricing structure, and many will be purchasing again. Mary felt Sunrider is really starting to brand itself with events like this. She made at least 30 serious contacts, many of whom would love to visit World Headquarters to tour the Chen Art Gallery and experience the full range of Kandesn® Skin Care and Cosmetics during a workshop with Kandesn® Marketing Manager, Julie McLewee.

For Sunrider staff and IBOs alike, Orange County’s Largest Mixer VII was a smash and sure to help Sunrider International achieve the brand recognition it deserves!

Sunrider Sparks the Firecracker Run

Sunrider was a top sponsor of the nation’s largest Chinese New Year 5K/10K run, the 32nd Annual Los Angeles Chinatown Firecracker Run. According to its website, “The L.A. Chinatown Firecracker Run Committee, Inc. (LACFRC) has contributed over $400,000 to local elementary schools and non-profit community organizations providing services and programs to benefit the community.” This year’s event proceeds benefited the Need2Read program which aims to increase the reading and comprehension skills of children in the program.

An “East Meets West” theme was present throughout the event’s opening festivities, including the Lion Dancers, the traditional lighting of 100,000 firecrackers, taiko drummers, and the Laker Girls.

To each race participant, Sunrider gave an SR Sports Bottle and a Fortune Delight® packet and product card. Not only was Sunrider a top sponsor of the event, but four Sunrider staff members participated in the 5K portion of the race, and two participated in the 10K portion! Way to go!

Parading Around: SR Creates Connections at Local Parade and Festival

Sunrider International continued its mission to increase local presence and exposure on Saturday, February 20, as it attended another local event—the Golden Dragon Parade and Festival. Held in downtown Los Angeles’ Chinatown neighborhood, the 111th Annual Golden Dragon Parade is one of the foremost Chinese New Year celebrations in all of Southern California. According to the event’s website, the parade’s theme “emphasizes ethnic diversity, Chinese Culture and exposure to Chinese-American businesses. The parade continues to be a rich and diverse experience for Angelenos of all ages and ethnicities.”

Each year, over 100,000 people line the parade route and thousands watch on T.V. to see the colorful and creative floats, marching bands, government officials, dignitaries, entertainers, local business leaders, and cultural groups who all participate in this much-loved parade. As a major sponsor of the event, Sunrider participated in the Parade, with local IBOs riding in an antique, horse-drawn trolley with Sunrider banners on the side.

Sunrider also had a booth at the event which featured demonstrations of SunSmile® Fruit & Vegetable Rinse, Sunbreeze® Oil & Balm, and Kandesn® Protective Foundation SPF 15, as well as samples of SunBar® and Fortune Delight®. Because the other tents at the festival were white, our red Sunrider tent generated a lot of interest! At one point, there was a line stretching some 30 people back waiting to try the SunBars and Fortune Delight®!

For our IBOs, this event was a great chance to tell people about Sunrider and create more recognition throughout the community. Because people naturally visit vendor and sponsor tents at festivals such as these, IBOs were able to practice their approach in a comfortable setting, and get a lot of new contacts in the process.
There are many reasons to attend local events. Sure, they’re fun and exciting, but you also get to build your approach experience, network, create confidence in your techniques, and learn! Local events are like dress rehearsals—they provide the opportunity to hone approach skills while selling products. Events in your area are happening all the time. Do some research and see what’s out there. Your Sunrider business will thank you!
