Simple Changes Create Big Impact

New Plan Draws New Life to Organization

Carla Thompson, a Sunrider IBO for nearly 10 years, always used a product exclusive approach, shying away from promoting Sunrider’s business opportunity. Recently, though, Carla decided to change things up, and the results have been incredible.

She not only began discussing the business potential with prospective customers, as well as discussing products, but she also simplified her approach, making it shorter and duplicable. Then, most importantly, she shared it with her downline. The easily duplicable approach caught on and now Carla’s success is resonating throughout her entire organization in the form of growth, vibrancy, and renewed excitement.

Here’s what Carla recently said in regards to her new approach tactics:

I can hardly keep up with the flurry of activity that’s been ignited…Monday, at lunch time, a man came in to pick up his lunch before going to work and signed up as an IBO. As I was processing his application, a downline IBO in my organization flags down a woman she knows walking by. She tells the woman, “You need to come in and hear about this.” The woman comes in and listens to my SR briefing. In less than 10 minutes she says, “Say no more. How much do I need to get started? I will get the cash and come back tomorrow afternoon.” She came back and purchased her gift pack and said that when her package arrives, she will meet with me and have a friend with her, and then she will upgrade to an IBO.

A business man also overheard this same SR briefing and said, “When can I meet with you? I want to make money too.” Today, I went to his place of business, and gave him my SR briefing. He wanted to know exactly how you make money, so I showed him the compensation chart, and he stared in disbelief as if it was too easy. Then a customer entered his store and I approached her as well, asking if she would appreciate having more energy. She emphatically replied, “Yes!” After briefly explaining what I had shared with the store owner, I allowed her to sample the SunBreeze® Oil. Instantly, she was very interested, so I walked her through my SR picture-book briefing. She asked for my business card and said she will be calling me to get together.

The store owner was amazed and he said, “Go ahead, get me started!” He pointed to his computer and said, “sign me up.” As I pulled up the online application, he said, “Wait, I need more time to think. I don't proceed this fast.” I asked if I could address his concerns. He said he thinks the opportunity is good, but just needed a little time to think about everything. I showed him the Introductory Video on Sunrider’s website, and he was impressed. He just wanted a day to contemplate, and I’m optimistic he will join!

This inspiring story shows how easy it is to make small changes that can have big, positive effects in your organization. Not only has Carla experienced positive activity, her downlines have too. These small changes brought enthusiasm to her organization through not only renewed excitement, but also new, motivated downlines that are easily duplicating her tactics! As success continues resonating throughout the organization, Carla’s business will continue growing and succeeding. All it takes is persistence, the right attitude, and the willingness to adapt.

Judi Padgett-Creed, a Business Leader from Murrieta, CA, shares her secrets on beauty and success


Judi Padgett-Creed has been a CIDESCO-certified esthetician (the CIDESCO diploma is widely recognized as the world's most prestigious qualification in the field of esthetics and beauty therapy) since 1975, but if you saw her, you would think she had graduated only a few years ago! She strongly believes her age-defying looks are due to being a loyal Kandesn® skin care and color cosmetic user for more than 10 years. She is her own walking billboard for her Kandesn business!


We caught up to Judi recently and asked her to share a few of her “secrets for success.” All of Judi’s family (including her husband and three sons) are loyal devotees of Sunrider® products, including Kandesn®. The whole family uses Oi-Lin® Liquid Soap in the shower and Oi-Lin® sunscreens before they leave the house. They say this makes a big difference in keeping their skin healthy and moist in the very dry region of California where they live. They also use SunSmile® Herbal Toothpaste and consume quite a few of the Sunrider® foods. The boys’ favorite is the new chocolate SunBar®

Judi is very versed and current in the field of esthetics, so she could choose products from anywhere in the world. Because of this, we wanted to find out why she chose Kandesn® and stayed with this brand for all these years. Judi says she loves Kandesn® because in her many years as an esthetician she has seen many ingredients come and go. Companies just move from fad to fad with new ingredients that can be detrimental and cause premature aging to the skin. She found Kandesn® to be a breath of fresh air. The first time she tried the skin care products, she felt like her skin sighed with relief—finally, she had something that worked for her skin! As a devotee of Dr. Chen’s Philosophy of Regeneration®, she stresses that her clients approach healthier-looking skin as a process of nourishing it both from the inside-out and the outside-in. Sunrider—a Global ‘Total Beauty Company’ Based on the ‘Philosophy of Regeneration®’

The following content was translated from Korean and based on an online article appearing in the Daily Cosmetic (July 15, 2010), a media website featuring health and beauty news.

Founded by Dr. Tei-Fu Chen in 1982, Sunrider is a global “total beauty company,” operating in 42 countries, with about 7,000 franchise stores operating worldwide. Sunrider Korea transformed its business model from direct marketing to franchising in February 2010, and there are currently 120 operating franchise stores in the country. I make it a point at the end of every presentation to set clear expectations by asking my guests where they see themselves starting in Sunrider: as a business builder or consumer. If they say business builder, I walk them through the business plan and then I ask them what they are willing to do in terms of time commitment and effort to build their business. 

A dear friend of mine, whom I introduced to Sunrider many years ago, told me he just wanted to be a product consumer. Many years later, this friend’s coworker saw the Sunrider® Shaker Bottle at their office and asked what was inside. After explaining it was Fortune Delight® and that he felt great, the coworker became excited about the products, making my friend excited to build the business! Timing is everything. This proves we are in the relationship-building business, and when a long-time customer wants to start building the business, you’ll be right there to help.

Life will always change, but you have to be adaptable. If you love what you do, you adapt and move forward.

What we wanted for a long time was affordability. Realizing that the cost of living has gone up for everything, Sunrider drastically reduced product prices in order to make the products available to a larger audience. I also tell people that Sunrider doesn’t make much money on the SunBars, but still sells this wonderfully delicious, reformulated product so people can enjoy them. 

People Sheryl and Tim haven’t heard from in years are contacting them about the reduced prices—people are excited! For people whose Sunrider business is sluggish, Sheryl tells them to fall in love with their business all over again, and sell that love.

Ray educates about the value of Sunrider® products, advocating switching brands to Sunrider to get toxins out of your home and products in that are safe for your children. He is excited about the reduced product prices, because it’s easier to promote the products in terms of quality and value.

Ray:

The plan is easier to explain. Focus on the value. Talk about what other companies put in their products and it makes our job easier.


Our customers use the money they save (because of the reduced pricing) to try new products they always wanted to try, but didn’t have the money to do so. They want more products because we’ve always taught our group about the value of the foods.

Ray identifies consumers when a new person talks about the products or health issues, and finds business builders at trade shows, home shows, and health shows, where Ray participates as an exhibitor. When crowds die down, Ray visits other booths and swaps information. He gives samples of SunBreeze® Oil and shares the income opportunity. If interested, he asks them to fill out a form regarding what they were interested in. No later than 24-48 hours afterward, he follows-up and schedules a one-on-one meeting. If they’re married, he tries to coordinate the meeting so that both spouses are there. Face time is very important, so Ray is very flexible about the meeting place. He prepares samples of Calli®, and SunSmile® Fruit & Vegetable Rinse, but keeps the demos simple and short.

He then explains that he and Trish have been with Sunrider for 21 years, Sunrider is located in over 40 countries, and has been in business for over 28 years. If there is time, they use a laptop to show Sunrider’s introduction video. If going into an in-depth presentation, they will walk them through the tools on the corporate website. They also hold regular meetings every two weeks and occasional product fairs. When they hold Kandesn® meetings, they use their camera to take before and after photos for guests that want to see the amazing results of their makeover.

In terms of building a business with Sunrider, Ray asks his guests what their needs are and what a comfortable time commitment would be. He finds most people just need another $500-$1,000 to make ends meet and he lets them know that’s not a stretch to achieve.*

Timing is also important. Ray’s sister-in-law joined Sunrider in 1994 but her husband didn’t help build their Sunrider business until after the recent cruise when his eyes were opened to Sunrider’s amazing income opportunity. In 16 years, he never offered a testimony in a Sunrider meeting, until after this recent trip, and now he is building the business alongside his wife!

The new business plan is also easier to present to young people, because it’s easy to explain and show them how to earn money.

June 2010’s Employee of the Month—David Cardenas!

Congratulations to David Cardenas, a gardener in our General Services department, on being Sunrider International’s June Employee of the Month.

When David began his Sunrider employment nearly six years ago, he had very little landscaping knowledge. After making it his goal to improve his skills, he worked and studied on his own to quickly learn. He constantly worked to improve his landscaping knowledge by attending various garden shows and learning from experts. As a result of his determination, he does an excellent job maintaining the building’s landscaping, and most importantly, in the front lobby area.

Regardless of weather conditions—pouring rain or extreme heat—David can always be seen working outside the building making it look gorgeous! Each day, we all enjoy the beautiful scenery he creates.

Not only is David’s work impressive, but he has a great attitude, attendance record, and is a pleasure to work with. Thank you, David, for your dedication and hard work!

May 2010’s Employee of the Month—Lilia Esquivias!

Congratulations to Lilia Esquivias, chosen as our May Employee of the Month. Lilia originally began her Sunrider career in 1995, and after taking several years off to be with her young children (she and her husband, Jose, an IBO Representative, have five!), she resumed her full-time employment at Sunrider in 2007.

Lilia’s energetic manner, which is infectious throughout her department, makes her popular and successful with customers. In fact, she is so well-liked and appreciated by customers, management receives numerous calls and comments expressing what an "absolute pleasure" Lilia is to work with, how polite, helpful, and informative she is, and how far she goes out of her way to make sure they were well taken care of.

Lilia’s positive drive, energy,  passion, and desire to project a positive Sunrider image to customers has paid off, as she is amongst the top performers in a recent project! Lilia accomplishes this by always being excited and positive, and by truly believing she can help customers achieve the best from their Sunrider business.

Sunrider® Fruit Punch

Ingredients
  • 5 tablespoons Sunrider VitaFruit®
  • 1 liter/quart Calli® Mint (chilled)
  • 2 squirts SunnyDew®
  • 1 liter/quart Fortune Delight® Lemon
  • 1 liter/quart mineral water
  • Chopped apples and assorted berries (e.g., strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
  • Pulp from passion fruit and other fruits of the season
  • Sprigs of mint
  • Glace/candied cherries
  • Crushed ice

 Directions
  1. Mix ingredients together in a large punch bowl. 
  2. Garnish with mint sprigs and glace/candied cherries. 
  3. Chill before serving. 
  4. Serve over crushed ice.

It’s a Hit!

"Experience Sunrider" Wows Newcomers and SR Veterans


On Saturday, July 10, 50 Sunrider IBOs and their guests excitedly attended “Experience Sunrider,” an event that included a Product Fair, Post Convention Meeting, and Opportunity Meeting.


The Fair featured Sunrider favorites such as SunBar®, Sunrider VitaFruit®, VitaShake®, SunSmile® Fruit & Vegetable Rinse, SunSmile® Herbal Toothpaste, and select Kandesn® products. We also gave away free trial-size samples of the Herbal Toothpaste, which many thoroughly enjoyed.


The Post Convention Meeting began with a slideshow of the Mediterranean Cruise. Highlighting the exotic ports and European pageantry, guests were awed not only at the sights, but also at the exciting adventures a Sunrider can experience.


Wrapping up the day’s Sunrider festivities was an Opportunity Meeting where North American Sales Manager, John Teng, debuted the new Opportunity Presentation. The revamped presentation focused on what Sunrider has to offer, the two needs people face in today’s fast paced lifestyle: wellness and income potential.
With a great 3-in-1 event that educated, motivated, and inspired, summer at Sunrider Headquarters is officially in full swing!

Getting Back in Shape with Sunrider

The below question was recently posed to John Teng, Sunrider’s North American Sales Manager. We know weight issues and getting into shape are common struggles, so we thought many of you may benefit from the answer.


Question: I heard through the Sunrider grapevine that you’ve done amazing in your quest to get into great shape and competing in body building! I am hoping you can share some of the wisdom you’ve gained on this journey.


My son is 34 and wants to get back into shape and more disciplined after a few years of personal struggles that followed a divorce. He is 5'10", weighs 165 lbs., and in his best workout days used to bench 320 lbs. I would like your input on the products I suggested he start with: To begin: Calli®, Fortune Delight®, VitaShake®, Quinary®, SunBar®, Sunectar®, Sunrise®, and Dr. Chen® MetaBooster®. Maybe later, as his finances allow, add: SportCaps®, VitaDophilus®. On workout days: eat one or two SunBars one hour before, and then a Sunrise® 30-minutes before he works out. Drink Calli® and/or Fortune Delight® before, during, and after. Following the workout, consume VitaShake® and take MetaBooster® within that 45-minute window of nourishing the body. Am I on the right track, and are there any other bits of wisdom you could give?


Answer: I use a lot of different Sunrider® products, but below are some of my favorite products and tips.


Mix two packages of VitaShake® Cocoa and add SunnyDew® to taste. Add 32 oz. of filtered water and carry it around with you in a Sunrider® Shaker Bottle. Drink one bottle before and one bottle after your workout. While all the products you mentioned are great to take, remember Sunrider thinks differently than the rest of the fitness-crazed world looking for quick fixes to their problems. Yes, they want results, but they willingly ignore the potential side effects of the synthetic chemicals they put in their bodies. “They” trust chemicals to produce magical results, and in my opinion that’s exactly what it is—magic, and smoke and mirrors with short-term gains and potentially destructive long-term consequences.  


In Sunrider, it’s about foods and believing the body can take care of itself through balance—that is the Philosophy of Regeneration®. The goal is to look, feel, and perform at your best for your entire life. I am not on a diet, but rather I am living the Sunrider lifestyle which includes a consistent regimen of Sunrider® products and a rigorous exercise regimen. I feel great and I look great using these amazing Sunrider products!
