Sunrider Employee Has “Home Field” Advantage When It Comes To Baseball

The smell of the grass, the crack of the bat, the roar of crowd…this can only mean one thing—Major League Baseball (MLB) is back, and it’s time to play ball! The season, which began in early April and extends into October, is now in full swing. Fans everywhere are rooting for their favorite team, marveling at action-packed plays, and harnessing high hopes for post-season glory. And here at Sunrider World Headquarters, there’s one baseball fan who has a personal reason to be especially excited about the season: Janene Ulrich, Director of Human Resources, is the aunt and godmother of Skip Schumaker, a rising young star on the St. Louis Cardinals.

Skip was born in Torrance, California (home city of Sunrider World Headquarters!), and attended U.C. Santa Barbara, where he studied and played baseball. He was drafted during his junior year (2001) by the Cardinals in the 5th round of the amateur draft. After spending four years in their minor league system, Skip played his first Major League game in 2005. After displaying versatility and phenomenal play the past three seasons (batting over .300!), he earned the Cardinals starting second basemen spot, and was later rewarded with a two-year, $4.7-million contract in February of this year. Way to go, Skip!

But that’s not all. Skip isn’t Janene’s only family connection to baseball. Skip’s sister (and Janene’s niece), Hayley Schumaker, is the fiancée of Cleveland Indians pitcher Anthony Reyes (the winning pitcher of the first game of the 2006 World Series, when he played for St. Louis). This past March, Janene traveled to Goodyear, Arizona with Hayley to see Anthony and watch some of his team’s Spring Training games. Janene reports that Anthony is currently on the disabled list after elbow surgery, but is expected to be ready to play by June or July.

Janene mentioned that while in Arizona watching games in the sunny outdoor stadium, she and Haley refreshed themselves with Shaker Bottles filled with ice-cold Sunrider® beverages. Janene says Sunrider® products are so great that she now takes them with her everywhere she goes, including baseball road trips. We’ve included two pictures from the Arizona trip that Janene shared of her niece, whom some may even recognize from her former days on the NFL sidelines, performing as a San Diego “Chargers Girl” cheerleader.

We hope you have a blast this baseball season rooting for your favorite team. And while you’re at it, please keep an eye on (and cheer for!) a certain second baseman on the St. Louis Cardinals!

Kandesn® Quick and Easy Summertime Looks

Kandesn® Summertime Makeup should always be subtly light and refreshingly beautiful. With the emergence of summer, your complexion is starting to take on a radiant glow and your makeup should reflect the season!
We think you’ll agree that our model has the Kandesn® Summertime Glow. We’re going to give you all the tips to create a fresh look that is both healthy and natural looking, using delicate hues that are very simple to duplicate and personalize.
Kandesn® Protective Foundation SPF 15
The goal for summer skin is to make it look as smooth and flawless as possible. This can be easily achieved using Kandesn® Protective Foundation SPF15. It’s a multitasking foundation that will nourish and moisturize, while affording SPF protection. Created with the best ingredients Mother Nature has to offer, it allows skin to breathe, appear smooth, and stay hydrated all summer long.
Application tipsStart the application on the center of your face, dotting foundation on cheeks and forehead. Blend downward and outward into the hair line and jaw line. Your final application should always be blended in a downward direction to make sure all facial hair lays flat for a smooth radiant look.
Suggested Choices
After application, skin looks healthy, dewy, and beautifully flawless - perfect!
For our model’s eyes, we used Kandesn® Mini Compact #2. We simply brushed the highlighter color “Iced Pink” over the entire eyelid and then contoured the eyelid with subtle grey. Then we applied subtle grey along the lash line from the outer corner to the inner corner and lightly blended the color up to the socket. This application only took a few strokes of a brush. Kandesn® Charcoal Liquid Eyeliner and Kandesn® Dark Charcoal Lash Enhancer Mascara completed the look!
For a natural flush of color on the cheeks, it’s better to highlight your cheek bones with sheer pinks and gentle peaches, as they give a pretty and naturally healthy look. For darker skin tones, bronzed browns and deep purples are complementary and define features exquisitely.

When you apply the blush, smile first, as it is the easiest way to find the “apple” of the cheeks.  Apply blush to the apple and then blend backwards and upwards toward the hairline. This technique will give you a youthful and beautiful appearance.
Kandesn® Moisturizing Lip Colors are always a hit in the summer because they keep the lips soft and hydrated for all the outdoor fun! At Sunrider, we make our lip colors with the choicest ingredients that are “good enough to eat.” Our Model is wearing 1119 - Iced Wine. To finish off her look, we applied Kandesn® Lip Gloss 193 – Passion Berry, giving her a shimmery, stunning finish.
You can also achieve a similar summer look with Mini Compact #3 and 1115 Lip Color - Tea Rose and 109 Lip Gloss - Soft Peach. For darker skin tones, we suggest Mini Compact #1 and Lip Color 1121- Red Spark
We have six Mini Compacts to choose from and several Kandesn® Lip colors, so get creative and step out of your comfort zone. Be a natural Kandesn® beauty all summer long and be your own most effective walking Sunrider advertisement!

Heightening Sunrider Exposure: Local Event Creates Awareness

Dubbed an “amazing, life-changing event” by organizers, Sunrider International attended the Women’s Information Network (WIN) International Convention “Be the Change” in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 17, at the Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel.

Presented by WIN, a community of women helping women, the event brought ladies together from all over to enrich their personal and professional lives, and Sunrider was on-hand to share its products and business opportunity with the many who attended.

Various media experts, word-class presenters, and best-selling authors were also there to offer invaluable information, advice, and inspiration to women trying to achieve their goals and “reinvigorate their life.”

Amy Cheryl, a Business Leader from Los Angeles, said:

“I made some great contacts and a couple that are interested in becoming business builders, so that is huge! I find that events like these are so important to have a presence at as it offers an audience to share Sunrider International with. I find that most of these events are not about making immediate sales; it is more about making contacts, networking, making relationships, sharing the Sunrider philosophy and their amazing products, and then the key is in the follow up. I always make sure to get their contact info, and to give them a catalog/brochure. I, personally, also utilize these events to walk around to the other vendors who may not get a chance to come over to the Sunrider booth. I carry the brochures with me wherever I go (even in the ladies room!), and then share with the ladies to stop by the Sunrider booth.”

Just like the women who attended this event to expand their circle, you can too at local events in your area. It’s as simple getting out there and networking!

Sunrider Supports the Gang Alternatives Program

The Gang Alternatives Program (GAP) held its 8th annual awards dinner and fundraiser event, “An Elegant Evening on the Coast,” on March 27, 2010, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in San Pedro, California. This year, Sunrider was once again a financial supporter of the event, and has supported this invaluable community program for the last several years. In fact, just two years ago, Sunrider hosted this annual event at our headquarters in Torrance.

GAP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides services and programs to promote a gang-free lifestyle throughout many communities in and around Los Angeles. According to their website, GAP’s mission is “to eliminate the base of gang membership by having a generation of young people say ‘no’ to gangs and ‘yes’ to positive lifestyle choices.”

Thanks to this inspiring and effective program, countless youth avoid the pitfalls of gang membership and are able to achieve success in life.

For more information about GAP and its positive effect on our community, please visit their website.

Achieving Success in Sunrider

Catherine Bunn
El Cajon, California

Before Sunrider, I was a daycare provider in my home for over 20 years, and after my introduction to Sunrider, I concocted the perfect plan. As my daycare children moved or went to school, I would grow my Sunrider business so I wouldn't lose my income. What I didn't expect was my family coming on board with me and sharing Sunrider’s incredible products. They are smart people, my family. My daughter is also a Lead Business Leader, and my husband loves the products and talks about how great they are nearly as much as I do.

The potential I first saw with Sunrider was to get my family healthy and have our foods paid for without stressing the family budget. I later saw that I could help others do the same and add to our retirement plan in the process. I also saw the benefit of not being tied down to the house as much, although it's hard to go anywhere with eight daycare kids in tow. I have a fabulous upline in Jeff and Elaine Smith, Patty and Bob Hewitt, and Jill and Ben Pena. I see from what they have accomplished that the earning potential with Sunrider is limitless!* Because they believe in me so much, I try harder to be my best.

I joined nearly five years ago, and I have no idea where my health or my family’s health would be without Sunrider. I do know it wouldn’t be as good as it is now. We have gone on several trips because of Sunrider, with our first being Sunrider's 25th Anniversary in China—a very memorable experience!* I also went to Hawaii, again paid for by Sunrider, and also to Palm Desert, California.* My income last year with Sunrider was twice as much as my best year in daycare, and I work less hours and have more freedom.* I have grandchildren now, and I can spend my time with them going places. I earned eight SVBBs in the past two years totaling over $46,000, with my largest over $18,000!*

My optimal goal with Sunrider is to make $15,000-$20,000 a month and help my husband quit his excessively high-stress job and work with me fulltime.* We want to be financially free, travel with those we love, and help others get healthier and wealthier.

*The income testimonial depicted is applicable to the individual depicted and anecdotal only. The earnings stated above are not necessarily representative or typical of the earning Sunrider Independent Business Owners (IBOs) can or will earn through participation in the Sunrider Business Plan. These statements should not be considered as guarantees or projections of your actual earnings or profits. The average annual income of Sunrider’s active IBOs was $2,627 in 2007. An active IBO is an IBO was has purchased 50 SV or more in 2007. As with any other independent business, success results only from dedicated sales efforts, hard work, diligence, and leadership.

From Couch Potato to Svelte 78 Year Old

Vitality Found
From Couch Potato to Svelte 78 Year Old

Bill Hughes is a fun loving man, but twenty years ago that part of him seemed to be slipping away. “I felt far older than I should have. ‘Old folk’ ailments were prematurely with me and no fun. I thought maybe at my age it was supposed to be that way—always feel old, uncomfortable, and unhappy. I had no energy, either. I could not get enough sleep; even with a nap before going to bed and sometimes one at noon. And I was a ‘couch-potato’ on weekends.”

Bill was only 58, but it seemed he’d “hit a wall.” His decreased energy and general ill-feeling was so bad he had to stop working, and he could only walk a few feet before he’d wheeze and pant. He attributed it to his weight gain—over 80 pounds in just over 2.5 years. “I tried to do better—fad ‘du jour’ diets and aids. You know, the ‘latest and greatest.’ After all, the ads suggested they’d work,” Bill said. “Still, I gained. I was hungry all the time, and I was addicted to sugar and craved it—especially ice cream. I thought I was more careful in my diet and habits than most. As some folks say: ‘I eat good.’ After all, I had lettuce on my burgers. We lived and ate as do ‘middle’ Americans.”

Finally, after a string of appointments with various doctors and specialists to try and diagnose the source of his lethargy, Bill learned about Sunrider. The Philosophy of Regeneration™ immediately made sense to him, so he and his wife quickly bought a three month supply of Sunrider® products: Fortune Delight®, NuPlus®, Quinary®, and SunnyDew®. Bill said, “Most of my symptoms disappeared within six months and quality living returned. The fun-loving guy was back!”

Expecting to be heavy the rest of his life, Bill’s only goal had been to return to work. So Bill was shocked when he began losing weight!* “Gradually,” he said, “my body shape changed for the better. My skin tightened as the weight came off. Age spots went away. I felt well and looked good. People asked what I was doing. Some wanted to follow my example. And even today, my body shape keeps improving. I remain at my college weight, feel well, and work every day. I have never skipped a meal or felt deprived. Somehow, my body knows what is best. When I provide natural nutrients it takes care of me.”

Today, the Hughes consider themselves “nutsy” about the effectiveness of the Sunrider® products, saying “they’re our first choice for food, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, protein, fatty acids, oral hygiene, household care, skin care, cosmetics, and more…We have a total Sunrider home—good stuff in every room.”

Bill said, “With regained vitality, we sold our retirement condo and moved to a five bedroom home, where we entertain our family and Sunrider friends in style…It’s wonderful to be 78 and feel 38. Our friends are in their mid-40s and 50s and think we are their age! Living is fun again. We feel well, look good, and are healthy, with money from our Sunrider income to enjoy it!”

*In conjunction with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Chen Art Gallery Featured in Local News

The April 1, 2010 issue of the Daily Breeze (a daily newspaper serving the South Bay cities of Los Angeles County) featured an article by John Bogert, staff columnist, about his “amazing” personal discovery of the Chen Art Gallery.

What surprised Bogart so much is that such a “glorious place” could be unknown to him, despite being “a guy who has been hanging out in Torrance since the early Qing Dynasty.”

Along with the eye-opening experience of viewing the priceless collection of Chinese art and antiquities housed in the Chen Art Gallery, Bogart discovered a lot about Sunrider International, the company.

A Sunrider Easter

Children love Easter baskets with all the goodies inside, but eating all those candies and chocolates can leave them feeling sick to their stomach. For a fun, healthy alternative, try adding Sunrider® foods and snacks instead of (or in addition to) candies, chocolates, and toys.

Chocolate and Fruit SunBars are great substitutes for candy bars. Chocolate and Apple Cinnamon NuPuffs® also satisfy a sweet tooth without the sugar crash. Little packets of VitaDophilus® (or "apple candy" as my children call them) fit inside plastic eggs, which are perfect for Easter egg hunts. Sunrider has many fun treats to fill an Easter basket and make your child smile!

If you are serving an Easter breakfast, you can try some of the recipes featured in the Newsletters (Harvest Muffins, Ultimate Oatmeal) served with a cold, refreshing glass of Sunrider VitaFruit®. For dinner, Dr. Chen® Secret Sauce Regular is a delicious glaze for an Easter ham or chicken. It's easy to prepare by spreading it over the meat and baking. I also love having a hot cup of Fortune Delight® or Calli® whenever I eat dessert on special occasions. (Taking Tei-Fu™ MetaShaper™ is a given!)

I hope these ideas give you some inspiration to have a happy Sunrider Easter!
