June’s Employee of the Month is…Tim Johnson!

It’s time to recognize another wonderful Sunrider employee, so let’s give a big hand to June’s Sunrider EOM, Tim Johnson. Tim was chosen as Sunrider’s latest EOM for his dedication, consistently strong work ethic, continued desire to grow with Sunrider, and his drive to go above and beyond his scope of duties.

A Senior Receiving Clerk in Sunrider’s General Services Department for nearly seven years, Tim handles various projects in the corporate warehouse, along with making deliveries throughout the building. Tim always wears a big, bright smile and is friendly and outgoing with everyone!

Tim is also a great multitasker! He recently worked on this year's busy convention-item receiving and helped with Jonathan Chen’s gorgeous wedding reception, all while attending Oracle training and completing his routine duties!
He’s a real go-getter :)

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication, Tim, and congratulations on this important recognition in your career!

Grand Convention 2009: That’s a Wrap!

For months, we’ve had our sights set on the 2009 Grand Convention—tunnel vision, if you will. We prepped, plotted, planned, and proposed. We wrote endless emails, made innumerable phone calls, answered endless questions, and tried our darndest to accurately portray how powerful this year’s convention would be. I think we achieved that, because it was definitely a success!

But now that July 20-25 has come and gone, you may be thinking, “What’s next?”

For one, Sunrider World Headquarters is hosting a Post Convention Meeting on Saturday, August 15, at 10:00 a.m. that will recap the 2009 Sunrider Grand Convention. Insight into and discussion about all of this year’s convention activities will help solidify the knowledge you gained at convention.

If you’re in the area, this is an event not to be missed—especially if you were unable to attend Grand Convention. It’s a great business-building and learning opportunity.

Another exciting development is that Sunrider World Headquarters wants to help you promote your own Post Convention Meeting! Give us the details of your event (time, place, date, etc.), and we’ll post a specialized event flyer for you on the Sunrider Business Center! After the meeting, send us a synopsis along with pictures, and we’ll post it as a news item for 30 days on our corporate website, Sunrider.com! That’s a full month of Sunrider exposure!

Help enthuse and motivate your downline with all the encouragement and impetus you received at convention! Don’t keep that Sunrider good stuff to yourself—share it with your organization!
Before you put your event planning hat on, please note the following:

• You must be a Business Leader or above who attended this year’s convention
• You must expect at least 50 people to attend
• The meeting must take place at an outside venue (one other than your home)

For more information and/or to get started, please contact the Business Service Department at (310) 781-8096 or info@sunrider.com.

August and September are the perfect months for continuing the energy of convention. We look forward to reading about all of your Post Convention Meetings soon!

What a day it was! Today’s General Session was truly special and elicited a full spectrum of emotion and behavior from both participants and attendees alike. There were laughs, gaffs, cheers, and even tears (of joy!) today, and I think everyone left the event touched and inspired…and proud to be a Sunrider.

The event was a perfect blend of style and substance, featuring wise words from Drs. Chen, lively contests, first-rate entertainment, confidence-building leadership speeches, award recognition, and plenty of product and business info.

One of the biggest highlights was the Chen Family segment, where the children of Drs. Chen, under the watchful eye of their mother, help Sunriders get caught up with their lives. This is something the Chens like to do every year, because as John Teng told the audience, “You are part of Sunrider’s extended family, and it’s great to reunite with all of you.”

The Chen Family made everyone feel like they were much more than partners in business, they were part of “one big Sunrider family,” and the Chens expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the loyalty and warm embrace of the audience.

Thank you Drs. Chen and Sunriders everywhere for making Sunrider what it is today.
All the best in health and success,

Convention Blogger

PS: Have fun at the Gala Evening tonight…rumor is the Fab Four are getting back together for Sunrider!

The Product Fair is Back!

To top off a delicious lunch on Friday, Grand Convention attendees were served up a Sunrider classic—an event that’s now back on the convention menu to stay—the Sunrider Product Fair!

Instructive, info-rich, and full of fun, our Product Fairs are a treat that should be enjoyed in heaping portions by all Sunriders—the only thing that’ll grow is your business,
never your waistline.

And there’s no better way to show the superiority of our products over competing brands than by letting people, see, touch, taste, and “feel” the Sunrider difference.

The Product Fair held yesterday was truly an international affair, as the eight stations showcasing different Sunrider® products were manned (and womanned!) by Sunrider staff from Hungary, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Canada, Hong Kong, the USA, and Korea.

Demo products included Fortune Delight®, Calli®, VitaShake®, SunSmile® Herbal Toothpaste, SunBreeze®, SunSmile® Fruit & Vegetable Rinse, Dr. Chen™ Refining & Lifting Cream, Kandesn® Dual Pressed Powder, and many others. Product Cards were also handed out and proved to be a big hit.

The demos conducted by the Sunrider staff allowed the exceptional quality and effectiveness of Sunrider® products to be experienced firsthand, and in a highly engaging, fun way. Product Fairs are truly a great way to get “hands-on” experience sharing Sunrider® products and a great way to connect with people.

Friday's General Session Rocks Anaheim!

As I made my way along with hundreds of other Sunriders into the Anaheim Convention Center Arena to attend this morning’s General Session, I could sense the excitement in the air (and smell the wonderful scent of SunBreeze® wafting in the air as well!). Sunriders from all around the world were eager for today’s event to start and to see Drs. Chen onstage.

Dazzling multimedia presentations, recognition, spirited Sunrider songs, contests, dancing, new product info, and of course, Drs. Chen, were all part of the amazing program.

And as it turned out, there was nothing “general” about this general session; Drs. Chen were very specific with their message: Sunrider makes the best products, offers the best business opportunity, and has even bigger plans for the future!

Instead of providing you with a bunch of well-deserved superlatives describing this extraordinary event, I’ve decided to try to convey some of the atmosphere with these photos. I hope you enjoy them!

All the best,

Convention Blogger

A Few Photos from the Workshops

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then here's an 11,000-word book for you! These pictures capture some moments from our Sunrider Workshops, which were held yesterday during day four of the Grand Convention. Thanks again to all the speakers and attendees, who made it such a memorable day.

PS: For more about the Workshops, please read our previous post. Thanks!

Workshops are a Hit in Anaheim!

Workshops were the centerpiece of day four of the Sunrider Grand Convention, and were held at the Anaheim Convention Center and the Anaheim Marriott. The agenda included morning and afternoon sessions, with a fabulous lunch in between. Topics focused on Leadership, Kandesn® Training, New IBO Training, and Potential ABO Training. The Workshops were led by Mrs. Chen, Sunny Beutler, John Teng, and prominent Sunrider business leaders who were carefully selected by Drs. Chen to share their expertise. I should also mention that there was even a surprise "guest appearance" by Dr. Chen!

As a Sunrider staff, I was able to sit in on many of the sessions, and I soon realized why the word “workshops” is used. Much more than merely a lecture or a one-way presentation, the Workshop format is informative, inspiring, and actively engaging. Because of the highly interactive structure, attendees were more like participants than attendees, as they were called upon by speakers to provide testimonials, insights, and answers to compelling questions.

One common thread I noticed throughout the Workshops was a renewed excitement about Sunrider® products. As one speaker said, “Sunrider is getting back to what made it great—Dr. Chen’s products and his Philosophy of Regeneration™."

My hand got tired taking notes, as I tried to keep up with all the great quotes coming from the workshop speakers and participants—there were just so many! I’d like to share a few with you below:

“When you use Sunrider® products, you become a product of the product.” An attendee remarked that John Teng—who was looking fit and feeling fantastic onstage today—is proof of this saying!

“Calli® is the Bentley of hot beverage products.” According to several attendees, one sip of Calli® was all it took for them to realize it was superior to other brands.

“Share products that you are passionate about.” People can pick up on the genuineness of how you feel about Sunrider® products.

“Sunrider® products allow you to do what you want to do.” Whether it’s sports, business, or lifestyle, Sunrider® products can provide you with the energy and opportunity to achieve your goals.

Thanks to the great job done by the Workshop speakers today! And special thanks to the Sunrider attendees, whose enthusiasm and participation elevated the entire experience!

Enjoy the Convention!

Tours, Tours, Tours---Grand Convention Style!

Grand Convention
week is officially in full swing and exciting Sunrider activities are taking place all around southern California! There are meetings, workshops, dinners, and parties taking place in Anaheim, and the Headquarters and LA Manufacturing Plants tours in Torrance. Sunriders are everywhere this week! How fun!

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, bus loads of Sunriders from around the world poured into World Headquarters and the LA Plants to experience the quality, history, and magnitude of our state-of-the-art facilities.

During tours of the LA Manufacturing Plants, attendees were led through Sunrider’s manufacturing and production areas and witnessed first-hand our impressive facilities. Our ability and commitment to self manufacturing helps Sunrider stand out from the competition! Sunriders also had a tasty box lunch complete with two SunBars and enjoyed the camaraderie of their fellow group members!
Once at Headquarters, Sunriders were greeted by helpful corporate staff members who showed them our beautiful office building, Botanical Gardens, and the extraordinary Chen Art Gallery. After the sightseeing stroll, Sunriders were free to peruse the Promotional Area where select items were available for purchase.

Finally, after a thorough tour of the Sunrider building, buses were loaded and Sunriders went back to beautiful Anaheim to continue their 2009 Grand Convention experience!

Sunrider Grand Convention --- Group Business Leader Training

Beautiful Southern California weather greeted day two of the Sunrider Grand Convention, which featured the Group Business Leader Training, held at the Anaheim Marriott on Tuesday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Mrs. Chen got the meeting off to a lively start by welcoming attendees and expressing her excitement about the day ahead.

Mrs. Chen invited eight experienced and highly successful Sunrider leaders to talk about what it takes to be an effective leader in Sunrider. The 400 Group Business Leaders and above (who were aptly described by Bob Goshen as being the “heartbeat of the organization”) in attendance were inspired and enlightened by each speaker. Special thanks to Bob Goshen, Don Caster, Julie Herring, Glenda Feilen, Xu Jun Yan, Zeng Qiang, Liu Wen I, and Man Wan for sharing their experience and expertise!

Wendy Teng kept the excitement going by presenting slick new marketing tools and redesigned product packaging. She also talked about many new website developments that are in the works that will enhance the online experience for all Sunriders. After attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch, Dr. Chen spoke at length about his passion—Sunrider® products—and captivated everyone with his insights about Sunrider’s unique formulations and how his Philosophy of Regeneration™ is integral to all steps of product development and manufacturing. Dr. Chen’s vigor and youthful appearance provided ample testimony to the efficacy of Sunrider® products, which he of course uses daily!

The meeting literally ended with a bang, as Mrs. Chen had various Sunrider leaders join her onstage to thump “thunder sticks” to the cheering crowd. These noisemakers, which are being sold as promotional products, will be used to cheer on Sunrider throughout the convention. Go Sunriders!

Sunrider Convention in Full Bloom in Anaheim!

While walking to the Anaheim Marriott (which is next to the Anaheim Convention Center) this morning to attend the Group Business Leader Training, I was thrilled to see that Sunrider signage has sprung up everywhere! The entire vicinity seemed to be in full “Sunrider bloom”!

Impressive Sunrider banners swathed the Anaheim Convention Center facade, artfully designed vertical banners (sporting the cool convention logo!) fluttered in the breeze, and the Marriott was festooned with an array of eye-catching signage. Hope you enjoy the photos!

More about the meeting to follow…

All the best,

New Sunrider Sounds

Seems like all cell phones come with the same dull, typical ring tones. Like when you’re at the mall and a phone rings and five people check to see if it was their phone…

Well, now there’s a solution—Sunrider has just released an exciting new ring tone so you can jazz up your calls and show your Sunrider love. Featuring the 2009 Grand Convention theme song, you can proudly show the world that Sunrider is your choice every time your cell phone rings!

Sunrider Grand Convention --- Day 1

While driving to Sunrider early this morning for work, while still a few blocks away, something ahead caught my eye that instantly reminded me that this week won’t be “another typical work week.” No, this week would be extra special for me and all Sunriders! As I drew nearer to Sunrider, what I saw previously from a distance came into full, glorious view: displayed expansively across the top of the Sunrider World Headquarters building was an immense banner (nearly 70’ long and 15’ wide, according to Tom of our general services dept.), and on it, in gleaming gold letters across a vivid “Sunrider red” background, it states: “Sunrider—Simply the Best®."

While maybe not the 8th Wonder of the World, this colossal banner will crown our headquarters building all week long, and can be seen from miles around. It proudly proclaims to Sunriders and to the local community that the annual Sunrider Grand Convention has begun! This year, well over a thousand Sunriders from about 20 countries and regions around the world will attend the convention (many are probably streaming through LAX now!), which always lends a genuine international atmosphere to the events. The Convention has been held annually for nearly three decades now, and has been held in many famous cities around the world. This year, the main events will be held in Anaheim, California, with tours conducted at the Sunrider World Headquarters in Torrance and at the nearby ultramodern Los Angeles Manufacturing Plants, which just opened last year.

The Grand Convention attracts Sunriders from all points of the globe, who come together to enjoy a week of learning, inspiration, networking, and good times. Conventioneers get to learn firsthand from Drs. Chen and Sunrider business leaders, share ideas, and enjoy the camaraderie of being around other Sunriders who share the same passion for Sunrider® products and the business opportunity. The Convention also galvanizes Sunrider staff. All employees pitch in and make a concerted effort to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. Employees strive to provide a memorable Convention experience for all attendees, who have traveled from near and far to attend. In addition to putting smiles on their faces, we hope the Convention will infuse attendees with even bigger “Sunrider dreams” and an increased passion for success in Sunrider.

As I approach the underground parking structure, the warm California sunshine is already beginning to heat the pavement leading up “Sunrider Way.” I steer around the country managers and wave at them as they stride purposely into the building for pre-convention meetings. Out of my car now and heading through the lobby on the way to the elevator, I can already feel the electricity in the air. The Sunrider ballrooms are primed and prepped for product sales, rope and stanchions are in place throughout for crowd control, and employees are buzzing around the corridors, carrying things here and there and setting up for upcoming events. Stacks of new convention products and information handouts are being conveyed from the warehouse to various distribution points. Staff seem upbeat yet focused on the work at hand.

Finally at my desk, I take a quick scan of the week ahead from our online Convention Schedule. Wow, lots of exciting events in store throughout the week, including the Master Business Leader Party at the Chen Residence tonight, the Group Business Leader Training (with the Theme Party to follow) tomorrow, the much-anticipated Product Fair (brought back by popular demand!), tours, General Sessions, and a wonderful Gala Evening affair that will provide a spectacular conclusion to the week.

Thanks for reading this post. I need to sign off now to attend to my own Convention duties, but before I do, I want to say we’re looking forward to what promises to be an amazing Convention week. If you can’t join us this year, please make plans to join us next year!

Thanks!

PS: If you’re in Torrance this week, and are near the intersection of Carson Ave. and Abalone Ave., don’t forget to take a quick look (while driving safely!) at our Sunrider banner, and maybe give a horn honk or tip your Sunrider® hat in appreciation of Tom, who worked so hard (and for many hours) to hang our super-sized banner, just right, I might add. Great job Tom!
