Sunrider Grand Convention --- Day 1

While driving to Sunrider early this morning for work, while still a few blocks away, something ahead caught my eye that instantly reminded me that this week won’t be “another typical work week.” No, this week would be extra special for me and all Sunriders! As I drew nearer to Sunrider, what I saw previously from a distance came into full, glorious view: displayed expansively across the top of the Sunrider World Headquarters building was an immense banner (nearly 70’ long and 15’ wide, according to Tom of our general services dept.), and on it, in gleaming gold letters across a vivid “Sunrider red” background, it states: “Sunrider—Simply the Best®."

While maybe not the 8th Wonder of the World, this colossal banner will crown our headquarters building all week long, and can be seen from miles around. It proudly proclaims to Sunriders and to the local community that the annual Sunrider Grand Convention has begun! This year, well over a thousand Sunriders from about 20 countries and regions around the world will attend the convention (many are probably streaming through LAX now!), which always lends a genuine international atmosphere to the events. The Convention has been held annually for nearly three decades now, and has been held in many famous cities around the world. This year, the main events will be held in Anaheim, California, with tours conducted at the Sunrider World Headquarters in Torrance and at the nearby ultramodern Los Angeles Manufacturing Plants, which just opened last year.

The Grand Convention attracts Sunriders from all points of the globe, who come together to enjoy a week of learning, inspiration, networking, and good times. Conventioneers get to learn firsthand from Drs. Chen and Sunrider business leaders, share ideas, and enjoy the camaraderie of being around other Sunriders who share the same passion for Sunrider® products and the business opportunity. The Convention also galvanizes Sunrider staff. All employees pitch in and make a concerted effort to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. Employees strive to provide a memorable Convention experience for all attendees, who have traveled from near and far to attend. In addition to putting smiles on their faces, we hope the Convention will infuse attendees with even bigger “Sunrider dreams” and an increased passion for success in Sunrider.

As I approach the underground parking structure, the warm California sunshine is already beginning to heat the pavement leading up “Sunrider Way.” I steer around the country managers and wave at them as they stride purposely into the building for pre-convention meetings. Out of my car now and heading through the lobby on the way to the elevator, I can already feel the electricity in the air. The Sunrider ballrooms are primed and prepped for product sales, rope and stanchions are in place throughout for crowd control, and employees are buzzing around the corridors, carrying things here and there and setting up for upcoming events. Stacks of new convention products and information handouts are being conveyed from the warehouse to various distribution points. Staff seem upbeat yet focused on the work at hand.

Finally at my desk, I take a quick scan of the week ahead from our online Convention Schedule. Wow, lots of exciting events in store throughout the week, including the Master Business Leader Party at the Chen Residence tonight, the Group Business Leader Training (with the Theme Party to follow) tomorrow, the much-anticipated Product Fair (brought back by popular demand!), tours, General Sessions, and a wonderful Gala Evening affair that will provide a spectacular conclusion to the week.

Thanks for reading this post. I need to sign off now to attend to my own Convention duties, but before I do, I want to say we’re looking forward to what promises to be an amazing Convention week. If you can’t join us this year, please make plans to join us next year!

Thanks!

PS: If you’re in Torrance this week, and are near the intersection of Carson Ave. and Abalone Ave., don’t forget to take a quick look (while driving safely!) at our Sunrider banner, and maybe give a horn honk or tip your Sunrider® hat in appreciation of Tom, who worked so hard (and for many hours) to hang our super-sized banner, just right, I might add. Great job Tom!
