Sunrider Takes Further Steps to Protect the Environment through Energy Efficiency

Sunrider, in stride with its continuing eco-friendly efforts to create a more energy-efficient workplace, is in the final stages of implementing an integrated energy management system at its World Headquarters, an area that encompasses 350,000 square feet of office space, ballrooms, meeting rooms, and warehouse facilities.

Sunrider has contracted with TAC, a global company that specializes in state-of-the-art solutions for HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning), access control, video security management, lighting control, and energy efficiency. The new integrated technology will enable various systems within Sunrider’s infrastructure to communicate and work together on a daily basis, 24 hours a day. This integration will translate into reduced energy consumption, lessened environmental impact, and a safer and more comfortable work environment.

The automated system, featuring BACnet system technology (TAC’s data communication protocol for building automation and control networks), will be implemented in phases at Sunrider, with the temperature-control phase scheduled first (within the next two weeks). Here are a few examples of how the new system technology will be utilized at Sunrider:

  • Temperature control: Automated sensory devices will monitor the temperature to maintain an optimal temperature throughout Sunrider World Headquarters. This will save energy and ensure a more comfortable work environment.
  • Lighting & Power: The system will automatically adjust lighting based on occupancy and ambient light levels, which will result in increased efficiency and reduced energy consumption. This measure complements Sunrider’s already extensive (and growing) use of skylights and natural lighting. The system is also designed to react quickly to critical power alarms.
  • Fire & Life Safety: To make a safer environment for its employees and visitors, intelligent components will be in place to ensure coordinated control of doors, lighting, and ventilation during emergency situations.
  • Web Access: Online technology will allow complete system control, both onsite and remotely, to manage the building easily and securely through one efficient interface. This will streamline facility management operations and optimize energy use.
Sunrider is excited about this new energy management system, because it’s good for the work environment and good for the natural environment. Currently, other energy-efficient, environment-friendly measures (such as plans for increased use of solar panels) are being developed and explored at Sunrider, so we’re looking forward to sharing more good news with you in the near future.
