Sunrider Winter Holiday Celebration!
Employees of Sunrider World Headquarters and their guests were treated to an evening of seasonal celebration and good cheer at the company’s annual “Winter Holiday Celebration,” held Saturday, December 12 at the Doubletree Hotel in Torrance. Hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Chen, the party atmosphere reflected the camaraderie, spirit, and energy that Sunrider is known for. After an hour of mixing, guests were regaled with fine fare, lively entertainment (including a live band and dancing!), games, and seemingly endless raffle drawings for fabulous prizes, made possible by the generous contributions from Sunrider IBOs. John Teng and Paul McCabe served as emcees, and kept the program rolling merrily along with panache and a flair for fun.
Highlights of the night included the much-anticipated departmental performances, which although perhaps not on par with the polished perfection of Cirque du Soleil, still provided scores of surprises, lots of laughs, and many memorable moments. To stage the performances, starting a couple weeks before the party, the various departments within Sunrider formed into five groups to brainstorm, script/choreograph, and rehearse their own routines, which collectively seemed to span the spectrum of the entertainment world. A game show spoof, a trio of operatic stars, cultural dances, theatrical and television parodies, aging pop music icons, and even “sounds of the rain forest” were featured in the rich and varied cavalcade of inspired entertainment, all driven by an informal yet spirited sense of inter-departmental competition.
Staff was also recognized onstage by Mrs. Chen throughout the evening. Personalized engraved Mont Blanc pens and etched-glass plates were among the gifts awarded to employees with 5, 10, 15, and 20 years of service, while Employees of the Month were honored with handsome commemorative photo plaques. And speaking of Employees of the Month, from among the 12 winners representing each month, Mrs. Chen, after giving a warm and appreciative introduction, announced the Employee of the Year—Melanio Arancon, from the General Services Department—who earned this accolade for his impeccable job performance and exemplary dedication to the company. Way to go Mel!
To round out the evening, Dr. and Mrs. Chen thanked all the employees for their hard work and devotion, and wished everyone the happiest of holidays and a great year ahead. All attendees agreed it was an unforgettable evening that added even more joy to the season.
Best wishes to Sunriders everywhere, and sincere thanks for your loyalty and support!
