2008 Olympic Games

This is a bit delayed, but we thought you might want to know how the Olympics went. Our family had the great opportunity to fly on the new Sunrider airplane all together. It was great, and such a blessing to be able to bring all the grandchildren on board with all of their toys and contraptions and not have to worry about being security checked!

So in Beijing during the Olympics, which were quite organized despite some confusions here and there, we were able to meet with top leaders from China for some dinners to review our franchise business there, visit the new Beijing branch office inside the Sunworld Dynasty™ Hotel, meet with our hotel managers to go over our Sunworld Dynasty™ and Sunworld™ hotels’ business, and were able to enjoy watching the Olympics in person and on TV. It was a great experience to be there, and to see everything that we wanted to…women’s 10m diving was awesome, rhythmic gymnastics was beautiful, tae kwon do and judo (always a passion for the Chen kids) were really interesting and fast, artistic gymnastics made us hold our breaths… we are truly grateful to our parents for giving us the chance of a lifetime to see the Olympics up close and personal.

Of course, with a trip to China, we couldn’t pass up on the chance to visit Hong Kong, Taipei, and Seoul. On August 14 in the afternoon, we had a packed meeting with the Hong Kong IBOs (young business leaders and their parents) and our family. My dad talked and motivated them about doing the franchise-like business, my mom introduced all of us, and we all went up on the stage to talk about the role of the younger generation in Sunrider. It was really a great meeting, and everyone was so excited. It was a really different experience to see all of the younger IBOs, some with their parents, coming up onto the stage and telling their parents that their goals need to be higher in Sunrider. Totally cool.

On August 16, we had a dinner banquet at the Sunworld Dynasty™ Hotel in Taipei with the young business leaders there and some came with their uplines or parents as well. With a few hundred IBOs in the audience, a great MC, and good food, we of course did karaoke. The kids in our family all sang “YMCA” and “Lean on Me”…both fun songs. Some of the Taiwan IBOs came up to the stage to sing and to share their goals in Sunrider…the second generation and young IBOs are really good examples of how to keep Sunrider going into the future. My mom also did the lottery drawing there, which was a hit, and a lot of IBOs walked away with new products.

On August 18, we had a big Opportunity Meeting in Seoul with about 50-60 Business Leaders and above who are high performing, and Drs. Chen had an intimate conversation with them about the franchise concept.

On August 19, we had a big Opportunity meeting with Korea’s leading IBOs and their new prospects. What a crowd with the room packed to capacity at 240 people. The meeting was exciting, my dad gave a great speech, and the IBOs that came up to share their experience and how much money they’ve made with Sunrider (their Sunrider testimony) did a really good job. They got the new prospects excited. Later that evening, we had a banquet dinner with the IBOs at the Lotte World Jamsil in Seoul…our staff there had prepared this enormous banner that hung in the center atrium and must have been at least 50 feet long. The entertainment was really fun with the older and younger IBOs all participating, and we had a great lottery of products for the special event donated by my parents and some top IBOs in Korea. This was really exciting, and Marcus was clapping his hands the whole time.

All in all, the trip was great. We got to see all of our IBO friends in Asia, traveled on the best airplane in the world, and got to spend time together as a family…it’s not so bad mixing business with leisure. That’s the only way it’s done in our family, and we enjoyed it a lot. Hopefully we’ll see some of you on our airplane some day traveling and inspiring others to optimize their life around the world.
